Our Community Commitments

Community Commitments describe the change in experience that the community should expect as the district makes progress on the strategic plan. They are bucketed into three themes: We Belong, We Learn, We Lead. In the spirit of shared accountability, the coalition invites the whole Bellevue community to engage in ongoing reflection about whether these statements are becoming a reality as the plan is implemented.

In order to make progress on the community commitments of We Belong, We Learn, We Lead, the Coalition worked with district and school leaders to identify three key priority areas to focus our work over the next five years: building human-centered systems and relationships, cultivating student engagement and learning, and strengthening collective leadership.

Our Goals and Measures

The 2024–2030 BSD Strategic Plan is a call for cultural and structural transformation, grounded in belonging, equity, and agency. Success will be measured through a blend of quantitative, qualitative, and experiential indicators—honoring both academic foundations and broader aspirations. Centered on our community commitments—We Belong, We Learn, We Lead—and supported by Sustainable Systems, the plan reflects our shared responsibility to build a thriving future.

Our Process

Annual Plan

Our plan is built around three transformative strategic priorities: Building Human-Centered Systems and Relationships (We Belong), Cultivating Student Engagement and Learning (We Learn), and Strengthening Collective Leadership (We Lead). Each priority represents a commitment to fostering an inclusive, vibrant community where connections thrive, learning is dynamic and engaging, and leadership is shared and celebrated.

Radhika Penugonda

Attending a Bellevue Schools Foundation event during my daughter's elementary years opened my eyes to the critical importance of the foundation's work. I started as a volunteer ambassador, driven by the desire to uplift education for all students in Bellevue. Today, as a staff member, I continue to witness the vital role the foundation plays in shaping brighter futures for our children.
